Bodybuilding Nutrition Basics

When understanding the importance of nutrition for the purposes of being healthy and gaining weight and lean body mass, I like to refer to this analogy. How do you grow a strong healthy tree? It needs water and food, right? Feed it right and it will grow. Feed it with inferior nutrients and you’ll stunt its growth. Are you eating right? With regard to bodybuilding and your eating requirements, what you eat is about 50% of the way to achieve your gains. I’ll say this again, eat right and you are 50% of the way to reaching your weight gain goals.

The sample diet below is an example of what to eat to gain weight. It contains a healthy balance of unrefined, complex carbohydrates, protein and good fat. I haven’t listed the number of calories and amounts of macronutrients in every food. If you want you can do your own research into any food at the USDA’s nutrient database.

Muscle Building Diet

It seems like everyone and their dog are on some kind of diet now days. Is this just in America or are other countries grappling with this redundant issue? Regardless, I guess dieting is a heck of a lot better than just doing nothing. So, what is your current diet of choice? Are you testing out the Weight Watchers thing, or giving the South Beach cuisines a shot? Or maybe you’re just on a good old-fashioned muscle building diet. This is where I am currently at. I am not one of those many individuals who struggle with massive weight gain. I am the opposite in some ways. I am always trying to pack on more muscle. After all, those who strive to gain pounds certainly shouldn’t be striving to gain pounds of fat. What you want is lean muscle. The question is; what is a decent muscle building diet?
