Homemade Protein Shakes – Banana Peanut Butter Weight Gain Shake Recipe

Protein is an important part of any weight gain diet. If you are not getting the necessary daily protein intake from normal foods, making your own homemade protein shakes is a good option and they don’t necessarily have to taste bad!

Because protein powders have an unpleasant taste, many people prefer to use the powders to make homemade shakes. If you are taking protein shakes three times a day (as many people do) you will quickly become bored if you don’t experiment with a variety of flavor combinations. And if you don’t stay on your program, you will not get the desired results from your muscle building regimen.

The variety of protein shakes that you can make is as vast as your imagination. It is important to choose your ingredients carefully because you don’t want to add extra fats and calories. It is best to use only natural ingredients. For instance, if you use peanut butter to make a shake you should use natural peanut butter instead of the processed kind. Natural peanut butter has high protein content and also contains natural fats that contribute to a healthy weight gain diet plan.

Whenever possible, use fresh fruits in your homemade protein shakes. The complex sugars in fresh fruit help boost your energy levels and the fruits contain antioxidants that are essential for the body to function at its maximum potential. Shop local farmers’ markets or organic grocery stores and experiment with different varieties of fresh fruits. Mixing different types of fruits can be fun and will keep your shakes interesting and appetizing which will make it easier to stay on your regimen.

Use your imagination to invent ways to boost your shake’s protein content. Try tossing in a few nuts or using liquid egg whites to add more protein. This will intensify the shake’s muscle building qualities without adding additional fat content.

After deciding the ingredients and flavors for your homemade protein shake then just take out the blender and follow a few easy steps. Most people recommend that you blend your major liquid source (water, fat free milk, fruit juice, etc.) before adding the other ingredients. After this, add your protein powder. The next step is to add the unique array of ingredients that make your shake perfect for you. You can add some more liquids if needed and the shake will be even more refreshing if you toss in a few ice cubes. Some people add crushed ice at the very end of the blending cycle.

If you come up with a variety of shake that your find particularly tasty or refreshing, share the recipe with your friends or post in on the internet. Sharing homemade protein shake recipe ideas can inspire you and others to create a wide array of delicious concoctions. Some gyms host “shake-tasting” events after workouts to give bodybuilders and athletes the chance to taste a variety of shakes that they can then customize to suit their own preferences.

The bottom line is that you need to take your protein shakes religiously from at least once to maybe three times a day depending on your goals in order for them to offer the greatest benefit to your muscles. The more variety you can create, the easier it will be for you to stay with your program. With a little creativity you can produce homemade protein shakes that are both fun and healthy.

Here’s a cool homemade banana & peanut butter weight gain shake recipe which tastes great.

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 tbsp of peanut butter
  • 1 banana
  • dash of cinnamon
  • 2 scoops vanilla/chocolate protein powder
  • Blend it all up and it makes it a hell of a lot easier to drink.

I love protein shakes as they give you energy and increase the protein needed to achieve what results you want. I love making all-natural smoothies and just add a scoop of whey protein in it. It taste great and has the protein I need.

I always drink protein smoothies, but do you need to workout in order to help build muscle or will just drinking the protein build the muscle?

of course you need to workout.. I’d say its 90% effort in the gym, 10% supplements (protein, creatine etc.)

Here’s a great tip for a pre-bedtime shake. This baby will be duelling your muscle growth for up to 6 hours while you sleep. It might not be to everyone’s taste, but seriously it does the job like no other!

Blend the following:

1 large glass milk
4 tablespoons plain yoghurt
3 tablespoons cottage cheese
1 raw egg
2 tablespoons Whey protein powder
3 tablespoons oats
1 tablespoon honey
A little water

This is great to fill the hole while you sleep, but DON’T have it before or after your workout as it’s designed for ultra slow release only.

Hi My daughter is undergoing an operation to remove her wisdom teeth. She is 15 yrsold. Will this protein powder fill her up and make her feel full after her op?

@Mrs B yodgee – If the recovery is anything like mine was she will be eating solids on the second day after the op. In the meantime just feed her some nice soup or anything which is not very solid.
