You've got to be kidding me...
You're telling women to raise their testosterone levels and gain a bunch of muscle?
I can guarantee you the average man does NOT want buff women. In fact the average man wants FAT. Breasts, hips, curves, et cetera -- these are all fat! You know what you do when you raise your testosterone and gain a bunch of muscle? Less curves!
This article is supposedly geared-toward underweight women. Surprise: gaining muscle isn't going to make you any less underweight (except perhaps on the BMI, which is a piece of crap by the way).
I'm sure you've all heard that fat is evil, but this just isn't true! Normal weight and overweight both have many health benefits. Some of the ones for overweight women are:
*Decreased chance of underweight babies
*Decreased chance of birth-defects in general
*Considered more attractive by many men (the majority of the other prefer normal, with very few (mostly gay) prefering skinny, muscular, testosterone-filled "women")
*Higher estrogen levels (*gasp* why would a woman want estrogen?)
*Overweight and normal women don't drop periods like many skinny, muscular women do
*Younger appearance (what? Gaining weight makes you look younger? How? Good question; I'm glad you asked. When you're really skinny (and muscular), your facial bones stick-out, making you look more angular and mannish. With a healthy (normal or over) weight, your face smooths itself out, looking fresh, young and attractive)
*Healthier skin (it's no secret that subcuteneous fat is a big part of what makes women's skin so nice)
*More curves
*Bigger boobs
*Bigger butt
...Need I go-on?
Effects of this unnecessary testosterone working-out?
*Increased chance of dropping period (yes, believe it or not, higher testosterone levels and lots of working-out make you less fertile)
*Less healthy babies (especially in the sense of low birth-rate and developmental problems)
*Less curves
*Smaller, more pectoral muscle like breasts
*A mannish butt
*Less subcuteneous fat (and, therefore, more mannish skin)
*Noticeable Muscles (at least when you're overweight no one will see them. If you're underweight and you gain muscle, everyone's gonna know) -- I don't know many guys who like muscley women (the ones I know who do are unsurprisingly gay)
*Increased risk of cancer (what?! Why? It has been shown in several studies that high protein levels greatly increase the risk of cancer. It's really no wonder, though, when you think-about it; protein is the basic building block of life, and it stimulates and encourages cell-growth. When you have more protein than you need, you're stimulating more cell-growth than you need. 'Nough said.)
Ladies, please do not listen to this person's nonsense, for it is, well, nonsense. If you are willing to devote time to learning the truth, well, the internet awaits.
Good health, and Happy Yule! :)

@Christine Maine..... aww, I'm sorry to hear that. I can totally relate! I'm a mother of 4 and I am a little skinnier now than I was back in my pre pregnancy days. It sounds like you have your hands full with work and taking care of an infant which is very difficult to do and it really takes a toll on your body. I'm 5 foot 7, and I weigh about114 pounds (give or take a pound or two). The more stressed out you are, the more you will lose weight without even realizing it.
Here are some food suggestions that may help: Nature Valley Fruit and Nut trailmix bars, cous cous, raisin bran with extra raisins, Ensure Plus, Michelina's frozen entrees. That's just to name a few. I still have issues with my weight to this very day. I hate my legs because they are so damn skinny and long. What part of your body do you have issues with the most? I would love to give you more suggestions if I knew what body part you want to change the most.

I can't fit into any of the pants I wore PREPREGNANCY!!!! ): It saddens me and I feel very self concious, I need a way to be able to eat and work as a server and take as much calories and healthy food as possible. I only weigh 107 lbs and I am 5' 4" and I want to gain at least 20 lbs. any suggestions???

I am 28 and like you, jennifer, I am five foot two and weigh about 110. I did weigh 125 and loved the way I looked then but for some reason like stress I dropped weight very quickly. It is so hard to freakin gain anything back and a pain in the ass because i have to constantly worry about fattening or high calorie foods. Can anyone tell me about an effective diet to use to pack on some poundage?

, Protein powders don't work! All they do is make you sick to your stomach. They taste awful and when people suggest adding fruit or peanut butter to make it taste better, it only makes them taste even worse! Nasty. Chalky. Lumpy. Thick. Ewww. Ill pass on the powder. You could try eating couscous with some butter and cheese mixed in. That's really high in calories and its good for you. Tastes good too.

Jennifer, even though I haven't been completely successful at gaining weight, I find that doing strength training exercises helps a little. I'm sure you've heard that a million times, but I do think it might help. Stay away from cardio as much as you can because it burns so many calories. I hate the way I look too. It sucks! People who aren't underweight have no idea how hard it is on us skinny chicks. If people keep calling you anorexic or something I would say something back like "bitch shutup already, you don't know how rude you're being and you look so stupid. I'm surprised you're not skinnier than I am with hoow much you run your fuckin mouth."

Hey, my name is Jennifer. Im currently 18 years old, about 5'2 and weigh 100lbs. 2 years ago i weighed 120lbs. I guess stress in highschool caused my weight loss. I have done almost everything to gain weight. I eat all the time. I dont work out because i fear it might make me lose weight. I am unhappy with the way i look now because i know i weighed more and look better in the past. I would really appriciate it if i could recieve tips on what pills and/or powders i could use to gain weight! thank you

I am so glad I found this site for some good tips and to see that I'm not the only one in this situation or similar. I am 25 and 5'3" 101 lbs, I'm also a mom of 2 kids. After my husband deployed I got so caught up taking care of the kids that by the end of the day I realized pretty quickly I started losing weight doing that. Now that he's been gone for a while I am trying to play catch up and put the weight back on cuz I'm tired of hearing from people "Are You OK?" Other than when I was pregnant I have always had a very hard time gaining weight. I'm going to try these tips, I hope it works!

I'm 17 years old and I currently weigh 98lbs with a height of 5'8". I lost 8lbs in the space of two months and I'm guessing it was due to exam stress. I'm not anorexic. I eat up to 5 times a day but yet I cant seem to gain any weight. I hardly workout since I'm afraid that working-out will only cause me to lose more weight. I just want to feel and look healthy again. I would love some advice on how to gain weight effectively with my very fast metabolism. Thank you! :)

Will anything ever work? I've tried it all it seems like, but maybe I'm wrong and I just don't realize it yet. I want bigger thighs so I do a lot of leg exercises along with increasing my calorie intake. I drink a lot of Ensure Plus with my meals as well. Still no results. I'm not happy with my body and it shows. A lot of my friends tell me I'm too skinny or joke around and tell me I look like I'm on drugs or anorexic. I'm none of those things. I'm naturally skinny, at five foot seven weighing 110 pounds. I know I'm skinny but I'm not anorexic dammit! I've become a world class bitch to everyone around me because I always feel like I'm going to be made fun of and I'm sick of being so darn skinny. Any tips would be very helpful and appreciated.

im 21, 151cm tall and weighing in at 38kg :( i have been given birth to three children but still thin. Ive took the weight gain supplements but does not working on me at all. After getting divorced last few months ago, i was so stressed up which couldnt make me sleep well enough. Does this is the main reasons why i am being too skinny? I really need some helpful, quick and effective gaining weight tips. Thank you.

As u guys have shown ur problem here, there is no need to worry, kindly concentrate your proper diet, take your meals properly including breakfast, lunch and dinner. in lunch u can take green leafy vegetables or pulses with a healthy drink, and never miss your breakfast, to gain the weight you can take paranthas with a full glass of milk or two bananas, and in dinner you should take some nutritious diet, take biscuits with tea and drink creamy milk.
